i have to bide my time to see if i have another job which i should know by the end of april or so. i’m putting in for gov job this month too, perhaps a few. the mines will be my lifeboat, i just grew tired of my job, a year or more in the mines might pay my house off.

i’ve put in for a mines job already but i doubt if they will get back to me any time soon. seen a power industry job that might suit me so i put in for it tonight, they might get back to me. the job i’ve been doing is an eye opener about how fairly important things are just hanging on a thread.

as for medicals in the mine how intrusive are they – lung xrays (ridiculous)?

The intension of some of the medicals is to set a baseline for you so that if you do have medical issues, it can be determined how you compare to when you started. Lung x-rays would be relevant if you were likely to be exposed to mineral dusts I imagine.

So when are you going mining again, rb? And will you have a chest x-ray?

I’d probably be there now if it hadn’t flooded everywhere, cutting roads and putting me out of paying work plus the fact that my car is broken after yesterdays surprise ninja kangaroo.

We managed about 5 minutes of this program. Very overwrought.

Started watching it on tape just then, and I see what buffy means. Absurdly hyperactive audiovisual editing, of a kind that’s very wearing but also very dated by now. It’s like sitting in front of strobe lighting, no shot held for more than a few seconds and most of it just a brief, uninformative flash. Very disappointing.

I’ll probably watch the whole first episode at least (but not tonight), in hope that it’ll calm down, but I’m not terribly hopeful.

Well i’ve watched it all now and yes, it did settle down into a very fine documentary. Looking forward to the next episode.
