This is my first time on a forum, looking for help. Not sure id my last comment (few minutes ago) has gone through.
I have bacopa monnieri taking over my garden. I planted it as a ground cover for a wet area, and it spreads really quickly. I don’t want to get rid of it, but want to control it. I think I need an implement that will cut and shape the edges to curb the spreading. When I have tried using my whipper-snipper it makes such a mess as the plant is wet. Any suggestions for an implement, or other?
Oh memory herb… you can buy vertical border shears or otherwise known as bowling green shears which are long handled shears where the head of the shear is parallel to the ground, and the handles rise 1metre up. So you operate them in front of you with the shear facing off to the side. As your arms go in and out, the shears go up and down and will easily cut through Bacopa, you can then rake up and remove your excess.
This is about the easiest way I can think of trimming this plant. You could bend right over and use normal shears but that would be back breaking.
Now you can’t find these at regular hardware stores, but you may be able to go to a Tool shop, especially one that stocks Sandvik or even Spear and Jackson. I have used Border Shears of both these brands before. Perhaps if you asked ever so nicely at Bunnings or Mitre 10 they maybe able to order them in??? I doubt it, not one pair, so try a Tool Shop.
