As far as I know bush beans are just not climbing ones, I’m waiting to see! The sticks are for support, a hint that was on the bush pea packet, so as I had a lot of twigs from our half dead silver birch I thought they could all share them :) The birds can’t get to them anyway, they’re in the birdnet cage.

from my memory bush beans are like a little bush which dont climb…. i grew a a type called hawkeys berry something ill have a loook on the seed company things it was some starting with m the compnany

i have grown the dwarft hawkesbury wonder seeds from mrfothergills. O40what ones are you growing and what brand are they, ill send u a link of all the beans on Mrfothergills website. Also these plants dont grow very high. Mr.Forhergills seeds

still a crop under that birdnetting can probably be protected with clear plastic.

I’ve just dug up the 2 leeks, they were good ones :) Now in a big pot with bacon bones, mixed vegies, celery and soup mix beans. It smells sooooooo nice.

i lived my life believing the only frost hardy beans are broad beans – so its worth that princely sum to be proved wrong.
