Subject: knights on horseback

having a squizz in the vbulletin site

a knight on horse would be the equivalent of a tank

the man and horse were armoured to prevent injury, the carthorse/cydesdales are the legacy of the knight

the horse was trained to bite and kick. one kick from a horse like that would kill you sooner or later.

until the introduction of the longbow knights could ride around with impunity and would be used to break the ranks, the only equal on the battlefield was another knight

in the battle of crecy the french suffered their greatest defeat in deaths of royalty, thanks to the longbow.

the longbow ended the domination of the battlefield by the knight

riot police also use horses for crowd control but against an organised crowd the police have to retire horses from the field

demonstrators will often spill glass beads on the road/pavement if they suspect a horse charge, the police complain that they can’t charge the crowd but they don’t use horses because they will slip over and injure rider and animal both.

it was the end of the feudal system and its notions of superiority.

the longbow didn’t discriminate between knight or peasant and neither was safe on any battlefield once the longbow was deployed

up to that point royalty were virtually untouchable by the peasants, the longbow became the equilising force that put paid to such foolish notions of divine right and superiority.

a peasant trained in the longbow could very easily take down the best of any french knight

Not for knights but some of the dressage “Airs above the ground” have been used in battle.

They are all based on natural moves that stallions do.

I have one in the paddock who I have seen perform a ballotade with kicks front and back.

24 fresh dates 130g (3/4 cup) smoked almond kernels 60g butter, at room temperature 6 thin slices rindless bacon Balsamic glaze (optional), to serve

given the aggravation its simpler to just let it go into the mist than try to hold on to it
