this is the very grim cyclist killed thread

its a carry over from the sssf and is a demonstration of how the human minds works. no one buys a lottery ticket in the expectation of losing , by t buthe same token no one goes out on a pushbike in the expectation of dying. the human mind doesn’t want to accept facts. we push it away. if this thread survives censorship i will use it to prove that cycling on australian roads is dangerous, more dangerous that we would like to believe.

whats worse is that traffic fatalities are something we have become conditioned to

i have decided to start tonight and will update periodically

At 4pm a male cyclist was struck by a car while travelling north on Clunes Creswick Road in Ballarat.

Are you going to start a “killed” thread thread for car occupants and motorcycle riders etc? The tally will of course be considerably higher, so you’ll be keeping busy, albeit rather pointlessly busy.

About 40 people have been hit by cars in NSW in the past five days, and paramedics are appealing to pedestrians to be on the alert.

Among this week’s victims were a mother killed by a school bus, a woman injured while pushing her baby in a pram and a young boy who ran into traffic and remains in an induced coma.

The Ambulance Service of NSW says it’s difficult to attribute the spike in incidents to any one factor.

“There’s definitely a trend going on,” said Danielle Mills, spokesperson for the Ambulance Service of NSW.

“It could be many reasons – people not looking or not noticing .

“It’s a bit worrying.”

More than 25 cases of vehicles hitting pedestrians have been recorded this week in Sydney, compared with only 10 in the same period last year.

Of these, 14 occurred in school zone hours.

Mijin Shin, carrying her 11-month-old baby, was hit and killed in Beecroft on Wednesday afternoon by a school bus that was carrying her 11-year-old daughter.

The baby girl was hurled from her mother’s arms but escaped injury.

A six-year-old boy ran into traffic at Woolooware on Thursday afternoon and was hit by a Volkswagen sedan.

He remains in an induced coma at The Sydney Children’s Hospital in Randwick.

And a woman pushing her baby in a pram suffered minor injuries on Friday afternoon when she was hit by a car in Chatswood.

Mike Willis, Acting Chief Executive of Ambulance Service of NSW, said people must keep an eye on their surroundings at all times.

Have school holidays have recently ended in NSW? A factor perhaps?

no doubt they’ll say it has been a cluster and nothing to worry about.

The month of May.. is the statistic you should be looking at.

Worst for all road statistics..

the last time I was in WA was when I was being taught by some character who’s probably dead by now, he was a chain smoker whose breath reminded me of the essence of death. I had to live in some rat infested hotel for a week.
