The REAL Australian Skeptics. Apparently….

http://australiansceptics.com/

I’m thinking of applying for a position as a moderator.

According to the Oxford English Dictionary, a sceptic is defined as, “a person inclined to question or doubt accepted opinions”. Sceptics are generally considered to be people who take nothing at face value. They want to see the proof for themselves and don’t accept what they are told unless they can see the evidence with their own eyes.

In today’s society, conflicting opinions, vested interests and the rule of law seem more likely to be governed by an unquestioned, all-powerful scientific elite than by evidence and transparent access to information. There are many who feel that Australia has become a scientocracy – where ‘scientists’ enact and determine legislation for their own reasons – rather than a democracy – a nation governed of, by and for the citizens.

And I’ve just been informed by a reliable source that…

“The supreme court has restored the Charity status of AVN
after it was removed by the previous state government. Hence the crap she
dispenses is funded from tax deductible donations and the propaganda
organisation is exempt from GST”.

Lots of mad people are calling themselves skeptics, these days. Might be time for a name modification, Pete.

i would say that in terms of semantics that a skeptic could be taken in two ways

1 one who is a eternally a skeptic for no reason nor rhyme for thinking in that way that is generally associated with the negative

2 someone who has not allowed that thinking to take over his mind and allows his own powers of reasoning to come to a conclusion in rational terms

I recommend that for your health in future, you should be vaccinated against (whatever). This is my recommendation. If you do not wish to follow my advice, would you please sign my record here to acknowledge this situation.

(I have asked people to sign to refuse a glaucoma test. They tend to think differently when they have to take the responsibility and they realize if some harm comes to them they cannot sue…..I am quite open about that being my reason for asking them to sign to their decision)
