Hey Buffy

can astigmatism be worse on some days than other? It seems to be particularly bad today .. I have made an appointment for the optometrist (long over due) for next wednesday.

I’ve just never noticed this level of variance in a day .. maybe I am paying more attention to it today .

I’ve wondered about this…it’s almost like my glasses are dirty. Today I couldn’t seem to focus at all on the dreadful monitor at the register :/

Astigmatism is pretty unchanging. It is more likely your accommodation (ability to change the focus of your lens inside your eye for closer or further focus) that is playing up. Accommodation can be compromised by fatigue.

yes that’s exactly what it’s like. I’ve cleaned them at least 10 times … no difference.

thanks, that’s interesting, shame it doesn’t fix it Right Now but at least I have some idea of what might be going on.

Does sound like a prescription update is on the cards jenna. Furious cleaning of glasses often portends age….

:)

I’ve been rummaging in my box of miracles for someone with advanced macular degeneration and we didn’t find any miracles that worked…….he is going to try watching TV with his binoculars….because he doesn’t want to do it with the telescope contraptions I have.

Still angry stage, I think.

He’s had a try with Lucentis poikilotherm, which stabilized him initially in 2007 when he had a sub foveal neovascular membrane, but he’s basically a dry AMD, which does not respond to anything we can do with drugs. So we faff around with magnifiers and try to make life as good as it can be.

Unlucky. Some controversy in the UK over using a cheaper alternative to Lucentis atm.

Scroll through chat, one of the original studies re fenofibrate is reffed in there.

if someone had only warned me I would have enjoyed my younger years more.

Yeah right.

That’s why old folk are so popular.

Special note for SP: In the group of people who get macular degeneration of the blinding variety, smokers are very much over represented…….

Just thought you’d like to know that.
