Subject: Return of the Vacuum Tube

It appears the Vacuum Tube may be making a comeback if this article is to be believed.

I must admit I’m laughing a bit at the comments section where people are rabbiting on about how great valve guitar amps and such are.

If the process can be made to work, at a reasonable price, it will be a boon for military planners and strategists, as the thing that scares them as they fall off to sleep is a massive Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP) and this technology may be immune to it.

That’s the one. I’ve always thought that if you like the sound of a valve amp you could always add a ‘niceness’ button to a transistor amplifier. The ‘niceness’ button would allow you to increase the harmonic content of the output.

Rod does some good articles and I’ve actually helped him out on one that he did last year. I threw my two cents worth in and he adjusted the article to suit.

Power. This thing won’t be used as a power amp and trying to drive a guitar through it would blow its tiny little semiconductor bits t bits :)
