Not sure that this is telling us anything new. The energy demands of a reasonably busy Westerner may well be much the same as the energy demands of a reasonably busy hunter-gatherer. But given the difference in food intake, the Westerner may have to exercise much more than they currently do to avoid getting fat.

We already knew that achieving the right balance of energy in & out requires eating a good deal less than many people do, simply because of the impractical amounts of exercise required to burn off even fairly small “indulgences”.
