Subject: First duck egg

Collected my first duck egg for this coming duck egg season. Usually they start a few days before the Elf’s birthday, but this year not so.

I have the gang out working in the weeds and they are having a ball. Rained again last night, so its lovely and wet for them.

Love duck eggs for cooking….. sponge cakes and a friend buys them as quick as I can collect a dozen.

still waiting for mine to start, but a friend has a regular supply and more than they can eat so I haven’t been missing out :)

The chooks are starting though, some days I am getting two eggs.

I’ve been getting a few days of 8 chook eggs of late. Very egg-cited about this. The last load of point of lay chooks I got seemed to take longer than normal to start to lay. We bought them back in Jan when James got married. As Pa bought me two and we bought the rest.

I have a friend who gave away her few hens, due to moving and she drops off her scraps for them all. So I slip her a dozen eggs when I can.:)

We have been getting regular Duck Eggs all year round… no chook eggs for some time now…. Julia is an oxygen thief.
