The MotoGP at Phillip Island. Just a couple of shots because I kept forgetting to take the camera down to the track.
My campsite (sleeping tent and cooking shelter)

All packed up and ready to go home

Tex and Bundy. Tex is the two legged one I think. Together they have clocked up something like 60,000 kms.

I had a great day yesterday. The Moto Guzzi Club had an outing to Yea yesterday and I drove down to join up with them. Got to drool all over the lovely bikes. BBQ lunch was had at a fellows house near Yea. Now in the Moto Guzzi Motorcycle world up the top of the list is a company in Holland called “Teo Lamers” they supply parts and accessories to enthusiasts all over the world. Well, the founder and owner, Mr Teo Lamer himself, now lives near Yea! and we went to his place for lunch.
Some of his extensive collection was there (the rest still in Holland) which he had on show for us. His wife runs a horse stud for the Friesian breed so there were also all these lovely black horses around the place, as well as turkeys, ducks, chickens, geese, a couple of goats….. Ahh! A person after my own heart!
And do you know what the best thing is? He was told that my bike is out of action again and he has offered to fix it for me!! I mean, apart from out of the factory itself, he would be the one person in the world who knows all there is to know about Moto Guzzis! And he is going to look at my bike for me. As you can imagine I am over the moon.

Yesterday the Moto Guzzi Club of Victoria were holding a Service Day in Blackburn South so I packed a bag and rode down for the event and to take advantage of the technical expertise of fellow club members. My carbies were tuned and balanced with the assistance of some rather surgical-like equipment and some helpful advice on how to deal with my crankcase breather problem. Lunch was BBQ’d marinated prawns, sausages and rissoles on bread and whatever you fancied to drink supplied by the club. A very blokey day, the only other female was the host’s wife! but all good company. A nice bit of garden of ferns and orchids at the venue too. I then spent the evening with youngest daughter and rode back home this morning, stopping in Lilydale for a Breakfast Burger at Azza’s Cafe.

A lovely day :)

Yesterday I went for a ride with some people with the CMA Vic (Christian Motorcyclists’ Association). I was introduced to a lady a few weeks ago from Benalla who is a member with her husband. I was invited to join them for this ride which started from their place in Benalla, then down the freeway to Euroa, up the windy Euroa-Merton Road to Merton then a quick toilet stop at Alexandra then on to Buxton where we were joined by members from Gippsland and Bendigo among others. Our group was five bikes and the first to arrive then more bikes kept arriving until there were maybe 20 – 25 bikes and over 30 people then we went inside for lunch. I had chicken and leek pie with veges.

After lunch the various groups went home their respective ways again. I had no troubles with my bike (which had many admirers) but couldn’t say the same for everyone.
Terrific! Envy, much :)

Went to the Spaghetti Rally this weekend run by the Moto Guzzi Club of Victoria. It was held not far from me on a flat by the King River. I didn’t take many photos I was having too much fun :)
Coming into the site was an adventure on its own. You need to come down quite a rough rocky track off the road and cross a creek to get into the site. The rocks in the creek and quite big and loose and a few people came off their bikes. Mine just tried to go up the creek instead of across it. I managed to stay upright but all I could do was hold the bike upright while some of the fellows removed the trailer and pulled the bike back so I could ride out into the campground. I was fine getting out again though as they moved a few of the more troublesome rocks. The weather was perfect although it was quite cool during the night.
Waiting to meet up with some friends on the way

Yesterday (and today) was a full day. Got up at 5.45am and was off on my bike at 7am. Rode to Melbourne for the Freedom Ride and protest at Parliament House. I reckon about 3,000 people there. Speakers were Dale Maggs of Freedom Riders Group, John Smith of God Squad, Father Bob (Robert John “Bob” Maguire AM, RFD is an Australian Catholic priest, community worker and media personality from South Melbourne. Commonly known as “Father Bob”, Maguire was awarded the Order of Australia in 1989) and a lady whose name I can’t remember but has ridden across many countries. It was all very peaceful. The police presence was mainly to facilitate the event (although I am sure they were also there in case things got nasty, which they didn’t.)
After that rode to Beach Road Parkdale for the Moto Guzzi Club of Vic’s annual Christmas BBQ, then on to married daughter’s for the night before riding home this morning with an hour to spare to attend to chooks and ducks (who had been locked up all this time), shower and get to work, where I struggled to keep my eyes open!
The ride was good but my frozen shoulder meant that my upper arm was in constant pain despite taking pain killers so that put a bit of a dampener on it. Also it was hot. Even when moving it was hot.
Freedom Rally

It was a nice day for a BBQ, and for sailing too apparently

Alexander was out of sorts, cutting some molars I believe, and his mum is looking very pregnant at 36 weeks.

I expect the drop in social riding groups for fear of police harassment doesn’t help.
