We are lucky enough in Perth to see a double eclipse. We can see the sun ecilpsed by the moon eclipsed by the earth…

i suspect the “cloud news” was a ruse

they didn’t want to handle the crashes on the highways in the morning so they manufactured the cloud reports

essentially they couldn’t say “stay where you are” so they created the scenario where anywhere could be good, by saying that anywhere north south or west will be good

Had good eclipse viewing here (near Grafton) through a really old welding mask.

I managed to get 7 little crescents projected onto the bonnet of the car though crossed fingers.

I was quite aware of the birds going quiet and then gradually firing up again (some of the roos lay down.. but they may just have been the very slack ones).

What I didn’t expect was that it got fairly cold.

It always cools off as the sun gets up.

The birds up here actually started making more noise once it got dark – especially the doves and scrub turkeys.

I had thought I’d slept in and missed it. Until I noticed changes in bird sounds. Then I tried using my straw hat on the side of the Sulo. However that got a bit tricky with a camera in one hand.

Birds here were quite noisy too. The kookaburras thought it was hilarious and then the galahs joined in.

Rockhampton

In central Queensland, residents came out to see a partial solar eclipse, with clear skies throughout the region.

The moon covered about 90 per cent of the sun this morning in Rockhampton.

Students at Blackwater High School, west of Rockhampton, went out to the oval this morning to observe the eclipse through telescopes and solar glasses.

Student ‘Brittany’ says it helped to bring science to life.

“It’s been an excellent experience – looking at it through the telescope and through the glasses you can really get a good look,” she said.

“The school has given us an excellent opportunity to view something like this.

“You can kind of feel that temperature’s a bit different and things like that.”

Yes. I saw a total eclipse way back in 1960. Another in 1974.. The gloss wore off it being exciting a long time ago but for someone who has never seen one.. they are fun fun science. true.

I was looking for a wall where the light through a tree would do that but the angle was wrong for any trees close enough. Besides, I had D bothering me to shower her and her mother phoning up and the computer playing up all while I should have been outside the whole time trying all photo angles. so I was lucky to get anything.. being unprepared and all.

You can go back to the old photobucket if you want. I did that the other day when I wanted to load something quickly without thinking about the new ways. There is a place to click to go back, over on the right hand side, near the top?

I’ve fiddled with the new one, in Firefox, and it has some pluses and some minuses from my point of view. I’m not very familiar with it yet.

Older versions of firefox have difficulty playing the game that PB has presented to all users.

yep. it is all part of the vicious cross scripting that photobucket does in order to get cash clicks from users that don’t pay for full accounts plus extra advertising money from those who do pay for accounts.. It has little to do with keeping the customer satisfied.

the only account that’s working properly is the imaged one I set up in Safari. the others I had set up in Firefox and Opera so as to not need to worry about logging in and out to use them beforehand.. are giving me problems that aren’t easy to surmount at the moment. give me time and I’ll hack all the scripting ..
