Merry Christmas everyone! Hope you all have a safe and joyous day. I saw Santa last night next to the Troubridge Hotel in Edithburgh. He was looking tired then and it was only 6pm. His Happy Little Helper Elf at the pub was cheerfully pulling a few pints though.

Have a great day everyone! I’m off to the beach.

Greetings and salutations no matter what your religion! Our pork is on the spit over the woodfire:

I’ve put together the Schwarzwalder Kirsche Kuchen:

And made a couple of little ones for our friends down the road:

I’ve only got to peel and cut up potatoes, pumpkin and sweet potato, and do the broccoli and other greens for steaming. Then I don’t have any more food prep to do.

And for breakfast I am going to eat the excess chocolate mousse from the cake.

So there!!

:)

Merry Christmas everybody. We had Christmas Dinner last night, lemon and lime glazed ham (I fiddled with a recipe), baked vegetables (mine kinder have never had hot baked vegetables for Christmas Dinner that they can remember) and of course my pav-a-lova…topped with mango and strawbs…I went to a great deal of trouble to neaten it up after the servings …

Brunch this morning, one son cut the ham, the other made an egg dish that he called scrambled eggs, it tasted good even if lacking in visual appeal, plus butter mushrooms, home made foccacia and quick fried tomatoes… the boyz could hardly move afterwards and had to retire with their books for some time before hitting the road again…

So it’s just the chooks, me, the dawgs (all of which are ferting) various wild rainbow lorikeets, and little corellas, altho’ the sulphur crests did come and sit on the clothes line earlier.

I have a mowing job, self-funded of course, but it will be good to just leave the grass there as a form of mulch / lawn feed.

Now that the chookens are used to the idea of living down the back, I have hopes of getting some form of gardening done out the front…some frangis that a lovely lady gave me of hers have bloomed so I need to plant them out in a temporary spot very soon…

Hope you’re all having a lovely COOL day…Buffy your cooking looks blooming marvellous…

The clods have gone and the day has heated up but that’s OK as it means the grass will grow better…just lovely Christmas weather all round…

like and not unlike our ‘brunch’

merry christmas all.

we had vegetarian brunch, not unlike that started at 11 and finished at three. mushrooms, ricotta pancakes, braised tomatoes and a rocket-and-walnut (?) pesto as the mains but -
there were cocktails, cherries, shortbreads and an experimental entree with freekah (?), yogurt, egg, a flattened apricot and summin else.

i have to appreciate the fine cooking but geez – i end up overly full.

Merry Christmas, Happy Holiday etc etc.
I’m full steam ahead gardening again, and my back is not happy.

ps. Kevin bought me a ukulele for Christmas. Lol

We had our usual no fuss picnic again. Just the four of us, and a goanna. :)

Well Christmas is meant to be a feast…love the long slow degustation idea…IF I’ve used degustation aright…

Have another “word” but have to go back and find it…from a Thomas Hardy book…

I just woke from a 2 hour nanna nap. We feasted, boy did we feast..leftover containers filled filled with food doled out with goodbye hugs. The ham was a hit and I even saw some plate licking. Tut tut.
I must have mentioned at some point during the year that I like fudge.. well I could open a fudge shop now! lol. I’ve boxes and baskets and hampers of fudge. Nice. But I would have prefered seasol LOL.
Poor baby Tia was so tired but she wasn’t letting that glittery paper go for anyyyyything. Stuff the pressies, it’s the pretty paper that counts. Her other Nanna and I had a little competition finding even better and more crackly paper. I won with the holographic paper, and Nanna M had to make the cuppas. Grandson was showing us his latest gym moves on swings and lift bars. His new camera was clicking non stop during excercise and muscle comparison breaks. He was ‘scanning’ us in sweeping moves to make some sort of panoramic shots. We’ll see them later.

GS, the poor kid, he bawled and bawled when he saw the fab gamers PC. A tad overwhelmed, we had to pick him up off the floor, lol. He is on it at the moment and every now and then gives us olds a near heart attack when he lets out a scream at finding out about something else it can do. His girlfriend, a sweet lass, had noticed my old (gardening) watch always on my wrist and bought me a pretty bangle timepiece. I really love it and I’m rapt she got an all stainless steel one as I cannot wear anything metal with nickle in it.

Now for a cuppa and relax in the, quieter, lounge room :)

Lovely family day all round, then…good work “scoring” (yes I know that’s not how it happened) the non-nickel timepiece…lovely lass GS has there…I was going to say with the Gaming Beast: it sounds so powerful you might need to bolt it down… in case it grows muscles or sonething lol lol!

WE had a great day.. A perfect family luncheon and afternoon of being together both face to face and via skype..
Well it was a great Christmas. Only one event marred it though I’m not anywhere near XNDC. There is a problem which was caused by the embanked lawn at MiL’s unit. As I walked to the car my sandals lost their grip on the fabric of the time space continuum and dropped me on my arse. Now I’ve got permanent(or at least it hasn’t stopped yet) pins and needles all down my left side.

Happy Christmas, I’m all a tingle.

lol! He’s going to get muscles lifting it.. the tower is half the size again as a normal pc tower, bloody big thing. There was another shriek when he discovered another thing, a sliding door on the top.. it’s a hard drive docking station. Whatever that is, lol.

Dare I venture the potential benefits of a good night’s sleep? Which I’m not getting right now myself on account of Puta has bolted…she’s gonna end up shot by a farmer one of these nights…

Back to the original subject…a sound sleep has many recuperative benefits…

I got bumped by a day-old calf once, solid thing it was (half Limousin) and I landed on my tailbone…Dr could not find anything wrong with tailbone and two years later I was fine, no ill effects since then either. It made long distance travel hard, tho’…

Oooh, I hope you find her or she comes back, before something nasty happens. Objected to the new canine addition?

I got pulled off the bottom of a slippery dip by my legs and landed on my bum aged 6, my legs tingled for weeks. Then throw in a bad car accident aged 17 and a bad back started. I credit the wild ‘washing machine’ boat ride in Tassie for bringing my probable back surgery forward to a definate. All good now though. We could wear bum pillow armour, neck braces and shoulder guards..in my case arm pillows too. But imagine trying to do anything…

She did come home. She’s got a habit of bolting if she knows I’m going to bed for the night, the trick is to get her locked in before she realises what’s going on…

the benefit of a night’s worth of digestion cannot be underestimated either.
me and the poodles are ready to tackle the remainder of the leg of lamb.

i have just cleaned the pantry – an annual event that msJ applauds – and then she points to the pots and pans drawers – moan
I will try sorting out the study next – altho’ that one might take all year.

Christmas is good for the cupboard clean outs…good luck with the study…no matter how much filing I do, there’s always more…just love the end of each financial year, out goes the “stuff” from 7 years previously, altho’ I believe the ATO only asks for 5 years worth of records now…

throwing out stuff is liberating.
there’s always the jar with mouldy contents – the plastic bowl with missing rim section – the wine bottle that was kept for no good reason – in the bin they go …
