Subject: Births , population and economics.
This is more of an economics questions but recently a discussion emerged and the one child policy of China was raised. I initially focused on the human rights aspect. Like the alleged forced termination of any other pregnancies that may occur after one child has been born in any family. I didn’t get as far as discussing the baby girls that are discarded often or were in the past before a comment was raised by another person.
IE there are two aspects to consider seriously about the one child policy. The person suggested this that while the population is being controlled by the one child population there is an artificially created aging population to a level not seen in the rest of the world.
Is it a reasonable consideration to ponder that with a population of 1, 357,588, 725 people , 6 667 579 Population growth this year,9 488 487 Deaths this year
Would an aging population in a country with a population control policy at some point suffer and economic crisis due the amount of aging people into their future or what?

I’m not sure whether that is the case. Most ‘western’ nations have crashing populations, and the aging of the population is apparent in most first world countries. Have a look at birth rates for Japan, Greece, Italy, Germany………et al.
In China’s case, it is my belief that the gender imbalance, that has been brought about by the one child policy, will cause far greater problems.

Let’s face it. The one super power that will make it through the economic clime, will shoot itself in the foot due to balancing economics on population density.
quality always supersedes quantity.

The richer a country the lower its fertility rate.

DV had a product called Stop Getting So Hot Ya Bastard, or something like that, but I think it was to do with radiators rather than procreation.

My boss reckons they gave bromide tablets to the soldiers in the war to quell some urges, maybe introducing it to the water supply could be plausible…

I believe the Vatican has agreed to the use of oral contraceptives, provided that the woman doesn’t swallow the pill, but holds it between her knees.
