Subject: Recycling in a different way.

We here talk about recycling a lot. I am so proud of the lengths I’ll go to recycle something. I watch what goes where and into what bin or animal food box to get the best result.

Now I have found a new way to recycle and this one is FABBER TABBER as it saves not only the environment but $$$$$$$$$$ as well.

The elf has lost lots of weight to the stage he has a 12 ply cardigan and a 12 ply jumper that are now too big for him. They are only a few years old.

On the knitting forum I have learnt about “frogging”… a term knitters use for ripping knitting apart.

So I have a couple of posts if your interested in…. about me recycling beautiful Aran knitted jumpers for the elf……

This one shows the jumper before I started to “frog” it…..I actually found it relaxing pulling the thing apart in front of the kitchen window…..just to unpick the seams was 4 hours.

The next post shows the deed being done.

So today I’ll do the next step… washing the skeins of wool and hanging them out to dry…then the skeins are rolled into balls…..ready to be knitted (same style) again but in a smaller size.

Damn I love my elf…either that I’m stupid…LOL

ROFL.. all the knitters I know can’t stand frogging, especially if they have a lot of frogging to do! But it is very dedicated recycling :)

reminds me of when I used to spin. I would wash the spun wool in skeins like that too.

========================================

Lucky, I want to take apart a couple of jumpers that were given to me. Nobody has ever worn them because we haven’t had a decent winter for say, 18 years??? They have got holes where the bigs et up big and the napthalene they were stored with evaporated ages ago. I am cleaning out my “sewing machine cupboard”…14 years worth of hoarding for “one of these days”…I was planning to recycle them as hooked rugs…

The “frogging” in the above link looks very complicated, worse than the knitting. couldn’t I just start pulling at one of the holes and take it from there?

I have only knitted one complete “jumper” in my lifetime, that was a vest for my late father…
