From the University of New Hampshire , comes this explanation of what we observe seasonally in the news, that warming events are inevitably linked to global warming.

Climate change beliefs of independent voters shift with the weather, UNH study finds

New research from the University of New Hampshire finds that the climate change beliefs of independent voters are dramatically swayed by short-term weather conditions.

“Independent voters were less likely to believe that climate change was caused by humans on unseasonably cool days and more likely to believe that climate change was caused by humans on unseasonably warm days. The shift was dramatic. On the coolest days, belief in human-caused climate change dropped below 40 percent among independents. On the hottest days, it increased above 70 percent,” Hamilton says.

>>> uneducated ignorance.<<

well, when the population is repeatedly told that every hot, cold event, cyclone, flood, storm, drought, etc,etc
is the result of man made climate change (with no evidence) something has to give, I suppose

Yes, too much brian about these parts, and white wash. Although, you’d think with all the white wash the place would be a bit cooler.

The hottest day recorded in Sydney (in the hundred year record) was last Friday, 18th January, 45.8 C.

The 2nd hottest day was during January, 1939, 45.3 C, recorded at Observatory.

0.5 C difference. I consider that statistically insignificant.

I had a mercury thermometer placed in the back yard last Friday. A peak of 44 C was recorded here in Sunny Shellharbour.

Twenty minutes after the hot north-westerly wind ceased, the thermometer fell to 31 C.

Interesting that.

There’s a lot of participants here that can be described as ‘cute’.

I bet there is even one called Brian.

I had a brother called Bryan.

He had a brain.

Here, in Sunny Shellharbour, Australia, its an invigorating 27 C Celsius with a light north-easterly breeze making it a lovely day at the beach.

A bit cooler tomorrow.

Also interesting that yesterday, Rockhampton had its highest daily rainfall since 1939.

Quite a year 1939. There was a record cold snap in Europe then, right at the start of the war. And a cold snap in Sydney as well as heavy rain and of course the big heat wave in Oz. I wonder what was special about that year?

Global warming less extreme than feared?

Policy makers are attempting to contain global warming at less than 2°C. New estimates from a Norwegian project on climate calculations indicate this target may be more attainable than many experts have feared.

if you try to save power by switching off appliances you aren’t using that sends prices upwards too because the power they could have sold you is now lost – they then have to raise prices to recoup the losses

the only reason that prices in australia rise is because the power generation and power distribution companies are mostly in serious debt

they sold queensland rail when the debt level hit 3 billion

both energex and ergon are now beyond 3 billion dollars in debt

my prediction? they will both be privatised and power prices will soar, though spending on the network will fall. from what i saw at the powerstation private companies nurse old infrastructure along extarcting as much money out of it until they can sell it on to some other sucker who figures he can make money out of it.
