I have been doing some background reading and came on this. This has got to be a hoax.

I replied in chat:

Have you read the paper? Perhaps you should start a thread and ask for scientific assessments. Has it been reproduced?

;)

I figure this deserves its own thread. How do we critique this paper? Is it a hoax, or is it a real result? Should we do experimental work in an attempt to reproduce the result? Where do we get these fungi?

Can someone get a copy of the paper posted into this thread, for discussion?

No, I haven’t read it. There is mention of it at the end of a Wiki page, but the link was broken, so I tracked it down via some other mentions. They claim spontaneous orgasms in (IIRC) 6 of 16 subjects. It all sounds very suss.

I tried to get a copy through the uni library- no dice, they’re not a subscribed member :(
However the article is real and has been cited by a number of other publications.

If true I’d be in the market for some. I could use it as underarm deodorant.

That would be lovely. Dogshit deodorant.

Talking of underarm deodorants, I bought some the other day from a new Vegan shop in town that sells a few extras. This one was aluminium free, which is not easy to get. I don’t like the anti-perspirant action of aluminium salts. So bought some and used it. I can say that whatever the perfume that they use in it, it has lasted 3 days. In fact it is overwhelming. I can’t wash it away. Back to the drawing board.

I tend to use a cheap Tea Tree oil roll-on.

I think I looked at it once, poik, and it seemed to be a big chunk of alum or something similar.

I have been seeking out an authentic Chinese recipe for cooking this mushroom, and I believe I have found one. It seems to be based on an old boiler.
——————————————————————————
Casserole in disposable full of water and put it into the old hen, add ginger fluff block a, a teaspoon of cooking wine first and bring to a boil over high heat, low heat slowly stew. Stewed chicken, in order to prevent the soup overflow in the casserole shelves two bamboo chopsticks, then cover the pot. After about three hours, the chicken soup has a golden yellow. Then you can the segment of the water has hair Dictyophora cut, put into chicken soup, then boiled, etc. Dictyophora fully infiltrating the taste of chicken soup, according to personal taste with salt, and turn off the heat, sprinkle a little chopped green onion flavoring, can be serve.

[Points to the chicken boiled water not to break the chicken skin; The the water hair Dictyophora to soak for a while, before removal of the sense of smell children Dictyophora Do not put too much, otherwise it will seize the flavor of the chicken soup; old hen stomach where oil is a lot to be dug up and threw it away a bit, especially in the summer for people like light.

That seems pretty clear. I think that was written by the bloke who did the instructions for my portable router table.
