I have tried to imagine what would have happened if the ABC had kept developing the original forums and how they might have evolved today. So I have developed a forum style that tries to use the features of the original forums and add the kinds of things that you might expect to find in a more up-to-date format.

This forum is now open for everyone to use as they may. The new forum appears to be stable but still need a few modifications. There are a number of new functions being developed that will appear over the next few days/weeks as time permits.

The forum offers each user a gallery where you can upload images directly from your computer and then use in your posts as desired. There are also user blogs if you choose to use them.

So please, grab a chair and a packet of biscuits and wander over and check it out. Admission is free.

If you are a programmer (HTML, CSS, Javascript and PHP) and you have the time and inclination to work on this then we can use you.

I’ll wait until the real new forum comes out.

My guess is that the bots just found it and overloaded the server.

um, why couldn’t nick ross wait until the new forum was up before pulling the plug on his server

Either that or the ends come off.

Borked before it began

I opened the page when the post went up

it was working then

now its failing to load in firefox 19

tab just says connecting

the page that I first opened in another tab is still up, but the left pane has disappeared

It finally opened but it looks a bit of a mess in IE 8.

Too many options too much WHO’S ON LINE, WHO’S NOT ON LINE.
Should be like here where no one has this turned on or that turned off, everybody sees the same thing, a wonderfully successful format based on KISS.

I tried some of the links in the page I have up

I got a 404 error, but then a page opened up with some other links. The first one was the Flirty Chat Room. I’ll be right back.

The Flirty Chat Room appears to work, but I’m sober, so I don’t think I will go there. The build your own website thing looks interesting.

It would appear the Cobberwebs has a big following in Costa Rica.

yeah there seem to be a lot of software paginas mentioned in the options

the new forum needs a space called “the arena” or some appropriate name

this would be a savage place where the more robust posters would inhabit

posters sin binned from other parts of the new forum would only be allowed to post in this foresaken place of grammar nazis and correcters. any dignity and self respect would be stripped away as you battled for your life amongst the snide comments and outright personal attacks

It’s back up. I’ve made some changes on the server, we’ll see if it falls over again. Might have to change to a different server to handle the load.

Does the FFFS stand for anything?

The old way will still work.
