The Perth Observatory is hosting the Winning Sky Photos: David Malin Awards 2012 photographic exhibition from 5 April to 19 May 2013.

Winning Sky Photos is the exhibition of the top entries from the David Malin Awards astrophotography competition held annually by the Central West Astronomical Society and open to photographers around Australia. The photographs are judged by world renowned astrophotographer Dr David Malin.

The competition aims to encourage photographers to use their vision, imagination and skill to produce inspiring and beautiful images of the sky. There are seven categories and this year’s open them was ‘Symmetries’.

The 24 selected entries are on display in the administration building of the Perth Observatory. The tour of the exhibition is organised by Sydney Observatory as part of the Powerhouse Museum, Sydney. The touring exhibition has been to Sydney, Melbourne, Queensland and Woollongong. Don’t miss the chance to view some stunning astrophotography while the exhibition is in Perth.
