I have a question i can get some light Sussex cross pekin hens are they any good layers, or are the Isa brown hens better. Because I need new Laying stock. I can get both breeds of chooks from a local grower.

if you are after laying stock then Isa Browns would be better, they are bred for good laying.

yes I knew that, I was wondering if the Sussex was close to them as well. Isa browns are what I have now.

Light Sussex are a good all purpose hen, a heavy weight chook that lays reasonably well, but Pekins are bantams and are not good layers (but excellent broodies), so I expect you would get a smaller chook that does not lay as well.
