Subject: GABA receptors

Due to something else, I’ve been having problems with insomnia.

I got some Dozile (Doxylamine succinate 25mg capsules) and have been taking one at night. I can’t find any research regrading this drug and GABA.

Today I bought ReDormin – valerian officinalis root 1.25g and humulus lupus fruit (hops) 360mg.
On researching I find valerian binds to the GABA receptors in a way that’s similar to benzodiazepine. which I don’t want. My GABA receptors are under enough stress as it is.

My question is will it be OK to use the valerian+
I have a support forum which says you shouldn’t take anything that binds to the receptors because it will take you longer to heal (from the original problem)

Thing is, if I don’t get sleep, I cannot cope with a bunch of other stuff.

I’m not naive enough to think because it’s a herb it is therefore safe.
thanks

Doxylamine produces sedation via histamine receptors, not GABA.

In the bad news, effect of valerian officinalis to kick in can take up to 3 months in the few clinical trials that have been done.

Hey purps, without elaborating, is the original problem something I already know about, or something new?

Is the doxy helping you sleep at all?

I’m just reading some clinical trials and I’m a bit afraid.
it’s compared to valium quite a bit and I do not want anything that can possibly mess with my brain.
I know the dozile can be addictive, so I’m taking less and less.
feeling a bit lost

At worst dozile becomes ineffective when taken in excess or for prolonged periods. Addiction is mostly/all psychological in this case.

Yeah, the pharmacist told me about that poik.
I’ve had some bad experiences with withdrawal from prescription drugs, so I’m being really careful.
