DuPont™ Ally® XP Herbicide

Ally 60 XP

METSULFURON METHYL (Methyl 2-carbonyl]amino]sulfonyl]benzoate

can anyone tell me whether someone would have to keep their kangaroos away from weeds that had sprayed with this chemical mix?

would it make a previously unpalatable highly toxic weed palatable as the weed was dying?

cheers .

I am not really familiar with it joey, but the comment about making the toxic weeds palatable reminds me of the wild radish around here. It becomes palatable to cattle after it has been sprayed with herbicide. Normally, they avoid it.

I don’t much about herbicides and just had a google about increased palatability of weeds after spraying and found ref to ragweed (ragwort?) and lantana. Not specifically with Ally.

Quite an important thing to know!

similarly, cattle may be known to walk across paddocks superphosphated to paddocks that had rock phosphate.

Folks around here do this routinely with the wild radish. They spray it, leave it for a period and then let the cattle in to it. It has quite a substantial root and the cattle pull that up and eat it.

Probably weakens the plant enough to allow the cattle into thickets of it and also to allow the roots to be pulled more easily.

Most chemical sprays will have a withholding period for grazing stock as per the manuals provided. Ally has a nil withholding period although 2 – 3 days is recommended to enable the plant to absorb the chemical. Roundup as an example has some salt content and makes the plant palatable to stock.
