So far Russia is top of my list. Nothing is really standing out. And the song the Russian woman sang seemed rather familiar, but I can’t have heard it before.

Good, means I haven’t missed much :)

I’m not doing FNDC tonight on account of working late (so there’s no booze in the house), thus I wasn’t going to bother with Eurovision. But it’s on now so I’ll pretend I’m half shickered.

There were a couple of decent songs and it was all good mindless fun. I’ll be parked in front of it tonight with lots of nibbles & drinks.

It was all crap, but I liked the musicality of Cezar’s singing, the unusually (for Eurovision) reflective melodic structure of Holland’s effort, and the satisfying symmetry of Azerbaijan’s performance.

Interesting to note so many of them are still so influenced by Ruslana’s (mediocre) effort for Ukraine all those years ago. Still lots of big drums and hey-heys and urban performers trying to look a bit wilderness.

But it was reasonably good crap. Eurovision is not best enjoyed sober, but how many of life’s better moments are best enjoyed sober?

Can’t think of many. Perhaps going for your driving test, or first solo flight as a pilot.

I’m usually sober. At least under the limit, anyway. I have a police document that proves that my blood alcohol level at the time was 00.00
