Just trying this for the first time here. This is a Spatulata Orchid, and I think it is Moresby Gold, but I don’t know if that one is as brown as this one on the ends…. I will find out.

wow what a stunning photo of it. Very nice indeed. Does it smell much???
Very unusual…not your normal “cooktown orchid” type of flower…where does the spatulata part of the name come from?
that orchid is quite different, lovely colour.
no smell Lucky.
it is a bit of a common orchid here that will survive out in the sun. Quite a tall orchid, the leaf canes are about 5 ft in length and the flower stems are about 3 ft long.
I bought one today strapped to a lump of old timber and coconut husks, there’s 3 leaf canes and 5 flower spikes on it. All up there is just over 100 individual flowers on it.
Cost me K20 so I’m happy :)
Spatulata has a pseudobulb in which the leaves grow off of. These pseudobulbs can grow to 4metres in length in some Spatulatas…
Well its a very pretty orchid PM:)

Sounds like you’ve got a bargain…
K20 when was a bargain but a friend of mine got the better Orchid :(
I will keep an eye on mine, and if it doesn’t look to be sending out new roots, I may have to re-tie it. One cane looks good, but I’m gonna keep an eye on it ;)
That’s a spectacular orchid PM, and it grows so big. Very interesting. :)
BTW I’m not here. Just sneaked in for a quick look :0
