it was just on here.
p cundall makes a great guest – he asks all the questions you feel like asking plus if simon bryant gets carried away he says ‘so thats a bunch of onions coated in this stuff’.
simon is amazing – how can you use about 20 spices in a dish and still know what it will taste like?
great programme.

I always enjoy it too Pepe. Some of their recipes are great, and i really like the “down to earth” attitude, so friendly and informal. Pete made a good guest – hope he does the dishes well!

It’s one of my fav shows but my problem is that most things they make are so full of cholesterol. I don’t think Maggie’s heard of low fat anything.

I was surprised that Dutch Cream potatoes are also called Nicola. They’re more available than I thought.

I paid a fortune for a handful of Dutch Cream at the green grocer and I’ve grown Nicols from Green Harvest for a fraction of that price.
Off to google.

Diggers also lists Nicols and Dutch Cream seperately.

Similar is close enough.
I’ve never tried growing the red spuds, yellow ones or even the black ones. There’s so much variety that these two are obviously very close – and considering it was an off-the-cuff remark he can be forgiven.
The amazing thing about Pete is that he would agree to play second fiddle to these two cooks- and sit around asking dumb questions. He said Maggie’s garden was more advanced than his because of climate and that (jokingly) cooking is better than gardening. He’s a risk taker – since any of these statements could be seen as partially inaccurate.
Overall the programme was a very nice melding of garden and kitchen – and that left a pleasant taste in the mouth.
