Subject: So...divisibility in homeopathy

Most of us know and acknowledge that the main precepts of homeopathy are nonsense. However, today I considered the dilution of faeces from some random hobo.

Let’s say we have x grams of hobo faeces, mixed in with y grams of water. We then dilute this mixture time and again, keeping all the dilutions lined up in neat rows of glassware.

Skepticism and critical analysis, and it must be said, cynicism, indicates that a 30G or 60G or whatever dilution of a homeopathic remedy contains little enough of the active ingredient to have any effect. But would you drink a 30G solution of hobo shit mixed with water?

Also, what happens to the hobo shit as you dilute it? I know that below the molecular stage it can’t really be classified as hobo shit any more. But what happens as you dilute? Do the shit molecules break down past the milecular stage, or do they just become rarer? If I’m standing in front of a bench looking at 20 million dilutions of hobo and water, am I looking at 20 million beakers of uncontaminated water, or beakers with one 20 millionth the total amount of faeces originally used each?

Oxidation to CO2 + H2O.

That’s just what we do drink, although I’d guess the concentration of hobo shit was much greater than 30G.

Ah, but those of us who read Pratchett know that the Tooth Fairy is real.

All that might be left would be micro-organisms like bacteria. So you might get more hobo than you bargained for.

Are we to consider the gut flora of this “hobo” (US derivation – migratory worker or homeless vagabond… equivalent of Aust “swaggie”) to be more or less deleterious than that of a “tramp”, a “bum”, a vagrant, a hippie, a junkie or a generic “homeless person”?

Probably more research is required to determine the content of emissions from an Australian Standard Bum.

Would the ABS look into that?

Same ass a wealthy ones…

It grows.

Growth rates will be dependent on nutrients, temperature and conditioning agents in the water.

Anyway you look at it… you will have a lot more shit than when you started.
