Today the Senate passed a motion calling on the AVN to disband.

The usual suspects should be gratified to note that the motion was introduced into the Senate by Greens Senator Di Natale.

The full text of the motion is as follows:

“Senator Di Natale: To move—That the Senate—
(a) notes:
(i) the low vaccination rates in certain parts of Australia, and the threat this poses to the health of Australian children, and
(ii) the irresponsible campaign run by the Australian Vaccination Network (AVN), which is spreading misinformation about the risks of vaccination and discouraging parents from vaccinating their children; and
(b) calls on the AVN to immediately disband and cease their harmful and unscientific scare campaign against vaccines.”

Nothing much up front. But just having the the whole of the Senate telling them to STFU, and the motion being sponsored by The Greens should be a big public statement further undermining their credibility. It’s about getting the AVN is unscientific crap message permeating through the general public consciousness.
