the phone has crap internal memory and I can’t move stuff onto the SD card to free up space.
googling has told me to root. there are heaps of tutes but I’m a tad suspicious of just d/l anything.
I joined an android forum but have no replies.
I’m getting really frustrated.
advice gratefully accepted
thanks :)

Ooh be careful with that. Mr Mutant really rooted his phone by deleting one file too many… turned out to be a root file needed to power up the darn thing. He has a HTC.

How to root your Android phone

The risks

You can take it to the bank that rooting your phone will void your warranty. Although the odds are small, rooting gone wrong could damage your phone beyond repair (brick it). That said, some of the most popular phones are already at much greater risk of bricking themselves before you start doing anything remotely funky.

Shouldn’t need to root to move files to SD card. Look for an app called ‘SD move’, it will allow unrooted devices to move apps to the SD card instead of on internal memory.

EVERYTHING has the option to move to SD card greyed out. I need to do something more than that

I won it in a competition. I’m not too bothered about warranty. will check the link, thanks

But, are you using an aftermarket app or the stuff that came with the device?

I did it. I got root.
now a bit of fiddling with some other programs and I’m hoping things will work out.
Samsung could try and make things easier I reckon
