Subject: No alpha Centauri planet?

The existence of a planet around Alpha Centauri B was announced in October 2012. Now a paper from 21 May 2013 (http://arxiv.org/abs/1305.4960) says that the original announcement was premature. By using two different data analysis techniques they found that one detected a planet and the other did not. Looking further, they found that the random noise distribution has a peak at the same frequency as the supposed planet orbit. Stay tuned for future revelations.

Wouldn’t matter as they never actually made it to Alpha Centauri.

They did discover al lot of other uncharted planets on the way though. All of them teeming with alien lifeforms. So really not a fruitless expedition.

unlikely as alpha centuri is one of the closest stars to us so no others for planets to orbit and gain life giving photons
