I’ve just got back from visiting Mr O40 in hospital and he is nearly back to his old self! He’s able to eat and drink normally and his speech is vastly improved. I got my MRI results today too, and it’s normal!!
I really need someone to drink champagne with, if I had any, that is ! :D

Haha Pepe! We’ve got gas fired central heating and a wood burner too. it’s not been col all day and now it’s a bit damp and chilly, so it’s ON. It can get very cold sometimes.
Cheers, down the hatch!

Yes, Grassy. It’s called Myasthenia Bulbosa. A rare disease of the auto-immune system. He’s an object of interest to the medical students!

Oh …oh…..oh…

Elf is moving his car onto the lawn……the the mourge fridge will be taken from the shed and put out the front……..then the kitchen fridge will be emptied out and put into the shed….. (we’ll use that one in the summer months when needed)

Then we’ll see how much crap has been built up behind the kitchen fridge since 1999. Wonder how many cat toys (straws and such) have made their way under the fridge????

Here’s the story:

2 weeks ago one of my TAFE teachers asked if I was interested in a job a couple of days a week at a local accounting firm. I said yes, printed out a copy of my resumé, heard nothing more, forgot all about it.

Wednesday got a phone call asking me to come in for an interview next Tues for casual admin work at the local council. V. excited.

Yesterday got a phone call from the accounting firm, asked if I could come for an interview that afternoon. Found I’ve gained enough weight that my 2 black skirts don’t fit. Have one pair black trousers in the mending pile, took half an hour to hem them, wore a longshirt to cover the broken zip, just made it in time.

Spent an hour and a half talking to potential boss, sounded bloody brilliant, walked out of the office, spoke to her kids who had walked down from school, turns out her youngest son is friends with my son!!

Thought I didn’t have a chance after the questions she asked.

Phone range at lunchtime today, would I like to start Monday!!

(BTW am reading your posts in between writing, but it’s too complicated to quote two people at once, lol!)

I’ll be doing admin and bookkeeping. The big thing is that the reason this new job exists is because boss has bought a bookkeeping firm in Brisbane and I’m being trained to do the payroll. I’m being picked up on Mon at 4.30am, we’re driving to Brisbane, staying 2 nights (motel), back late Wed. We’ll do this for 2 or 3 weeks until I’m up to speed then the job will be based here and I will work every Monday (pays HAVE to be processed on Mondays, no ifs or buts) and probably some extra days, most likely Thursdays and/or Fridays.

I have no idea how much I’ll be paid but it sounds great – exactly what I’ve been wanting (although Mr Y isn’t too keen on the training in Brisbane bit!).

Funny you should say that.

Mr Y got a solicitors’ bill yesterday $7,000 and he hasn’t even been to court yet!

We can’t afford to spend any more of our house money (or we would have to cancel the house) so we’re going to have to write to the solicitor saying that if/when we qualify for Legal Aid, we can’t afford any more fees, and offer to pay that bill of slowly.

that’s going to be tiring for a bit but if it is no more that 2 or 3 weeks then it won’t be too bad.

I had to go shopping for work pants. Two pairs of black pants on special at Target (the only major “chain” we have in our small town) for $30 each. Looked at budget. Went op shopping. Got 4 pairs black pants $3 each. (One’s a bit big, one’s a bit small, one’s got a stain I might be able to get out, one needs to be hemmed – I should get at least 2 decent pairs out of that haul – will look in the daylight, black’s a bit hard on the eyes under electric lights.)

I had a job that required black pants once. Bought a pair at the Salvos for $4. One of the most comfortable pants I have ever worn! Had to give them up eventually when the backside got tears in them!

Mr Y is a good fella, his facial expression said he wasn’t happy when I first told him about the terms of the job (the Brisbane bit) – you know that kinda pained expression that some people get … ;)

He’ll manage, of course he will. For the first half of last year I was travelling 160km round trip 2-4 days a week to uni fulltime, plus working at the fruit shop one day a week. Eventually he said a couple of weeks now won’t be much at all. I think he just had to get used to the idea. When he got home yesterday he didn’t know I’d had a job interview let alone the details. Poor lad.

As for what it will do to/for my study. Hmm. I will still carry on, but obviously I won’t get as much done! I’ve got 6 or 7 modules to go, having completed over 20 already. Funnily enough, some of the units I have yet to do will be easier if I have a workplace to refer to.

Evening all, got back from Brisbane at midnight last night. I have no idea what I’m being paid, how many hours I’ve racked up, when payday is, etc, etc, but work was good and I’m going back again next week. The boss hasn’t said so, but she must think I’ll be able to handle it because next week I’m taking her car and driving just myself – we haven’t discussed details yet, but I should be there for Monday night, not sure about Tuesday night.

So anyone free Monday night to meet up somewhere in Brisbane?

I’m working at Wishart/Mt Gravatt if that helps. And i have a street directory and I’m not afraid to use it.

All reasonable offers considered ;)

Um, yes, well, it would probably be better for everybody, yourself included, that your knickers were of a quality that they didn’t predispose themselves to, um, well, the rag bag!

I ain’t sure how polite it is to ask a lady about her undies…

Semi-romantic getaway, nice hotel, nice location, good restaurants nearby… perhaps in the evening, I shall be able to purchase some nice wine at a sensible price, perhaps some cheese without having to look at the use-by date, and maybe some “fresh” oysters? Who knows what luxuries will amaze us…

I may even just wander around Coles and be blown away by the range…

I can’t make any plans to go out because I don’t know what shifts eldest son’s working and MrBL’s going interstate again.
There’s always room here for dinner(pot luck) unless you get a better offer.
