A thread to usher in the new season, especially for those enjoying a champagne breakfast in its honour.

Spring 2013 will see me lose the beachball, finish this latest moon painting and go back to the earlier unfinished one, while composing some excellent music, keeping the mowing up to date and generally appreciating life. And digging & manuring the bean bed.

Now in the oven: two pork sausages, facing each other in a small roasting tin with a little olive oil, to represent the amorous mammals of spring. Plus a chopped red capsicum, to represent the chopped red capsicums of spring, and an egg in the centre to represent the abundant fertility of the season. Salt & pepper, to represent seasonings. Toast, to represent the warmer weather etc, and margarine to remind us that we’re all only a molecule or two away from being plastic.

Who cares for the technicalities of astronomers, with their talk of equinoxes? The “first point of Aries” is not nearly so significant as the first Spring jacket on the street.

(Top right)

It’s sunny with a gusty south easter keeping it nice and coolish.
Perfect weather for mowing which I’ll be doing shortly not like some people who’ll be inside drinking cheap but surprisingly tasty after shave lotion and talking about mowing.

In the Spring a young man’s fancy lightly turns to thoughts of love.
