The wreckage of the Costa Concordia cruise ship has been pulled upright in the biggest ever salvage operation of a passenger ship.
The 114,000 tonne ton ship was again put in a vertical position using a series of huge jacks and cables, in an operation that took 19 hours.
It has now been set on an artificial platform drilled into the rocky sea bed off the Italian island of Giglio on Monday.
“The parbuckling operation has been completed. We have reached zero degrees (vertical),” said Franco Gabrielli, the head of the civil protection agency overseeing the project.
