From memory, jj photographed a very similar species and had shown it on the old scribbly for ID. Morrie knew something about it.

That is a series of slides of various mushrooms at that link. Some interesting ones. I just put it up as a start off point for learning something about more exotic mushrooms

That one is decidedly inedible despite appearances.

Riff’s right. It looks like pomegranate pips lying on a mountain of freshly whipped cream… Yum.

Many fungi are not considered edible due to the fact that they don’t taste or chew very well.

Fascinating pictures.

Should we be growing and eating more mushrooms? They would appear to be ideally suited to high rise growing facilities due to needing little light.

Some Japanese guy(or something) would have to be able to turn anything that isn’t poisonous into something edible

The stuff that makes them luminous also makes them poisonous.

Yes. I found that out after eating one. Not deadly but expect violent vomiting. The Aborigines of the top end are supposed to be afraid of luminous fungi – for good reason.

I picked one of the ones you consumed today. They are fun to play with at night, but definitely not to eat!
