For those of you who came here across from the old SSSF (snigger), I present to you Mr Arthur Comer – aka Argus.

I never mentioned who he actually was in all the time that he was involved in SSSF. I did mention that I knew him, and left it at that. I actually defended him a few times from what I saw as ad hominem attacks.

Tonight I decided to check whether he was still alive, and lo and behold came across the following:

He comes on at about the 5:30 mark. I haven’t listened to it, except to find where he comes in. I do know a bit about his life story, and if that is included I suspect it may surprise some.

His religious beliefs won’t surprise any :)
.

So, do I know the name from The Age letters page 30 years ago, or from the Skeptic letters page?

I suspect the former.

Yes, it would be The Age, all those years ago. And for some reason I think I did know who he was in the SSSF days. Maybe it slipped at some point.

Hmm, as someone who turns away religious proselytizers when they come knocking at my door, I’m hardly going to want to listen to their spiel on the internet.

You should have heard him lecture. A great cure for insomnia :)

Ahh my old sparring partner Argus.

I remember him describing a miraculous event when he tripped down some stairs in Melbourne I think it was.

Apparently there was no other explanation for his survival apart from miraculous intervention.

yeah a lot of people say that about me but then again, they are tied up in a sack after all, so its quite difficult to hear much at all.
