Would someone please ID this shrub for me? #1 daughter would like to grow it but we don’t know what it is. She saw one at the local shopping centre.
Very pretty, doesn’t seem to have much perfume.

Anne, have a look at pictures of Polygala.
The leaves look a bit like oleander but the flowers not…never seen a rhododendron but they’re related to oleanders, aren’t they? Not oleander anyhow…

That certainly looks like it…thanks so much buffy!! #1 daughter will be pleased, but looking at Grow me Instead it could be a bit invasive :(

I didn’t like to say it before, but now you’ve said it: it looks like it could be a nuisance plant…what does Grow Me Instead suggest as an alternative?
No problems. Books is betterer than Interwebs for IDs. I got out the book, went to medium shrubs, Spring interest and looked for pink ones. Then I could go to the Interwebs for more pictures.
:)

It would seem that they like the poor, sandy and well-drained soils, and dry climates…pretty sure your climate is dry most of the time…is your daughter’s? I quite like the ones I’ve seen…
