VSS animal hospital in Brisbane is one facility where greyhounds are bled and then euthanised for other animals that need transfusions.

Vet Dr Bruce Mackay says it has ethics approval from the Queensland Government and that up to 100 dogs are euthanised there each year.

I get that feeling the Queensland Government would give the ethics approval to draining the blood of babies if it could get away with it

There doesn’t seem to be any evidence of that, true. However taken overall, it may be generating a lot of money. It is just that at the dog races all the people seem to be down and out. In fact even horse racing would be similar if someone hadn’t called it the sport of Kings. I hear Gai Waterhouse speak and I think to myself yes the sport hasn’t improved your intellectual capacity.
