Kinda interesting

“The insect had to take a blood meal, be blown to the water’s surface, and sink to the bottom of a pond…to be quickly embedded in fine anaerobic sediment, all without disruption of its fragile distended blood-filled abdomen.” In a phone interview with TakePart, Greenwalt likened the blood-swollen abdomen to “a balloon ready to burst.” He put the probability that it would have been preserved at “almost one over infinity.

Use of a phrase such as “almost one over infinity.” instantly destroys any credibility he may have had. :)

why not use the phrase “astronomical odds”? conveys the same message and isn’t so naff as bringing infinity into it.

Had a big dispute back in the SSSF with someone claming “near infinate” was a valid unit of measure. (cant remember who it was).
A bit like the term ,” Very unique “. We hear it a lot.
