Subject: Primary-Net wants to kill PINs with its fingerprint scanner
Primary-Net introduces biocryptology, an advanced fingerprint scanner for payments and file transfers.
A Dutch R&D company has unveiled an online identification system using fingerprint scanning that it claims is the internet equivalent of a “cure for cancer”.
Primary-Net has unveiled its “biocryptology” tech, claiming it’s safer than rival biometric solutions and could do away with PINs and passwords entirely.
Didn’t think it would take long to turn up…

Heh, I was thinking about fingerprint scanners on laptops the other day. Now that Apple have them on iPhones, they’ll be everywhere on the market soon enough. You can buy stuff from iTunes without a password now, all you need is your finger scan.

Ive been doing some work for an organisation that uses a fingerprint scanning lock to gain access to a secure part of thier office.
Not only does it not work properly but I pointed out that terrorists or robbers will just cut one of the staffs fingers off and use to gain access.
Stupidest system Ive seen.

I was wondering how easy it would be to lift someone’s fingerprint and make a replica finger?

10 years ago when i worked at the adelaide casino they had a thumbprint scanner system for getting through secure doors, didn’t work more often than it did work and sent security barmy with the continual messages that a person had last scanned going out of the building and was now scanning into a secure zone without having scanned in at the main entrance again

An entirely new thread required here I reckon.

No new thread required. Just this one particular episode they did might be relevant, and something can be drawn from it. It might be one of the few myths they did properly.

Yeah I worked at a place where all the workers were required to swipe in and out.
This would give a time line of who was in the building if something was stolen… because criminals are the dumbness…
However due to customer convenience all door’s would be open between 8 and 5…
FMD.

The Aussie diggers were annoying exposed hacking off the hands of the partisans in Afghanistan recently. They were mutilating the dead because it was too hard to take back the body supposedly.

Yeah, their idea was… if a staff member came in after hours and looted the place they would have her/his details… I didn’t bother signing up.
Reminds me, you might know this one, of the slow fella that took his “pet’ wildcat to work everyday…
Always leaving work pushing his wheelbarrow with a large box in it.
‘Whats in the box?” They asked.
A Wild Cat! he answered. Best not disturb him… He’s wild.
After a few weeks they got suspicious and decided to ‘test the box’
Sure enough a Wild Cat jumped out and savaged the guard.
What was he stealing…
