depends on how much wind there is. windy weather makes the temperature seem colder, but if it is still and sunny and the light is reflecting off the snow then it can feel quite warm.

VG, I am a tropical bug. Hate winter. My favourite part of winter is the soltice ‘cause it means summer is coming again. First time I went to play in the snow we spent the day taboggoning. Within about 1/2 an hour I was down to a short sleeved shirt. I probably started with about a dozen layers (well, maybe 1/2 dozen LOL).

One tip – put on a normal pair of socks; put on a shopping bag (yeah, I know, weird), then put on a thicker pair of socks. The plastic bag stops your feet from getting wet; the socks stop the bag from rubbing. Even in boots your feet will get wet!

The snow boots come from the same hire places as the skis. Well worth the money for nice warm dry feet.

Very unlikely you will be able to lay down on the seats of the bus as they are normaly full—take one of thos blow up cushion things that go around your neck—so you may be able to get a little sleep

Oh to be young and able to sleep on a bus. I went from Darwin to Brisbane a couple of times in my youth. Leave Darwin mid afternoon; dinner at Katherine; coffee at the 3 Ways; breakfast at Mt Isa; lunch in the middle of nowhere; dinner at Townsville. The Queensland coast was a blur, haven’t a clue where we stopped. After Brisbane I then had another 3 – 4 hour trip to my nanas. Used to get there about 9 o’clock at night. Also did Sydney to Perth. If anything, that was worse.

These days, I want a bed, a pillow, and horizontal position.
