I remember being surprised to discover that post op after removing one lung that a human can survive with just one (the remaining one). I have since then met at least one other person whom exists using just one lung as a consequence of a traffic accident iirc.

The first artificial heart was successfully implanted in the year 1982. What do they mean “first”?

The artificial organ I hope to see next is the kidney, given the huge number of people needing kidney transplants and dialysis machines.

Yul Brynner had his pneumonectomy prior to the King and I.
