Interesting footage, African tigerfish leap from the water to catch flying birds.

Seems a particularly veracious species of fish. I recall the River Monsters TV series doing an episode about these same fish getting into huge packs attacking bait-fish in a feeding frenzy, that possibly also accounted for struggling and drowning humans when a ferry capsized. Seems these fish have a remarkable array of feeding skills.

Not an odd occurrence either, very impressive fish. It sure has the equipment to catch them. You don’t need teeth lake those to only catch other fish, so wonder what else it eats.

I shall have to re-watch the episode of River Monsters. He was after these fish in the Okavango River in Botswana. As i recall they fill a similar niche to piranha, but the individuals in the shoal are about three times the size with bigger teeth.

Beautiful looking place the Okavango, but full of deadly creatures. If the crocodiles and hippos don’t get you, there’s always a school of Tigerfish…
