Pepe
I just googled and found another forum (http://www.earthgarden.com.au/portal/forum/viewthread.php?forum_id=7&thread_id=3489&pid=34976) Seems there’s a number of people experiencing odd out of season behaviour. This thread was from June this year; so maybe the weather is just screwy.

definitely screwy weather – in the case of the mulberry i’m assuming it had a near death experience during the drought. although it is a large, young tree i bought at a market, so it may have other problems.

comforting to know it is widespread – amazingly so – reading that forum.

Wow Peps, how marvellous! They are big luscious looking fruit too, much bigger than mine get to. Strange that it doesn’t have much foliage though, the fruit is usually hidden in the leaves.
Mine is in very tight bud.

Just on the out of season topic. The frogs are croaking their little hearts out around here. With the set in rain they are convinced it spring I think. One gives a ribbet and little echo comes from all the plants and grasses.

I’ve tried to seek them out but you can’t find them. Probably to do with their colour and of course they stop calling as soon as they know your near.

Frogs are spotlighted with a team of three. All three have torches and point where they hear the noise. Gives you a chance (and not much more) of spotting them. We have a couple of big green tree frogs that reappear every now and then. Last summer I heard a ‘knock knock’ frog in our rock wall. That’s a Striped Marsh Frog. Sounds like someone with one of those table tennis bats with the ball on piece of elastic. I’ve been told that people have sold their houses to get away from them, but I kinda like it.

frogs have turned into tadpoles here – as quiet as lambs
