We won’t know for sure until when of if he wakes up, but it’s not likely he’s ever going to be the same. Indeed he may not ever wake up.
Like him or not, he was one of the greatest sportsman in history.

That would seem to be so
and I agree.

Honour the man for his achievements and allow him the time and space he’s got.

I guess there will come a time, if he doesn’t wake up himself, when someone will have to make a decision as to whether he continues to be treated. Maybe they will dodge the issue like they did with Sharon. It’s a tough call and I’m glad I don’t have to make it.

An induced coma is used to treat the brain swelling associated with an acute brain injury. I think 4 weeks would be very unusual. Sadly, I don’t think Michael’s coma is still “induced.” It seems increasingly likely that he won’t wake up.

a medically induced coma is just long term anesthesia, usually to allow intubation .. but I only play doctors for the fun

Ja. But it indicates someone isn’t able to maintain their own airway for various reasons – can’t breathe, can’t cough, can’t clear secretions etc.

yeh not if it’s prolonged ….

but it does seem to be a sensational way of saying ‘they’re under sedation to regulate their respiration’
