Taranis drone: Britain’s $336m supersonic unmanned aircraft launched over Woomera
By Matthew Grimson and Mark Corcoran

The first vision of a state-of-the-art drone touted as the future of British warfare has been released, showing it soaring over what is thought to be Woomera in remote South Australia.

“It’s a combination of both being very routine – almost boring – and also incredibly exciting. It’s a difficult thing to articulate.”

Air warfare will eventually be completely manless.
Attack missions will be done by cruise missiles and defence operations will be done by these little chaps.

Yeah the American military reckon the F-22 will be the last manned fighter. The only reason there is air warfare is to take control of the air and deny it to another, in the future that can probablt be done better with systems of systems, surveillance and swarm technologies, lingering presence etc. No real reason for a person to be involved.

I imagine a flesh and blood pilot might also limit the maneuvers a highly advanced jet fighter can perform so eventually they are removed from the equation.

Very nice to see Woomera in use again. I thought it had just about been scrapped. The last I heard of its real use (as opposed to a proposed use by Kistler Aerospace that never eventuated) was a high altitude balloon flight.

I thought they tested (or perhaps it was only proposed) SCRAM jet engines there
