Surprising how many people fill an electric kettle to the brim just to make two cups of tea.
I don’t think they took that into account. Assuming on average people boil twice as much water as they need, that would be 40 days UK electricity.
OTOH, if they used waste heat from a nearby power station they could do it without disrupting power supplies at all.

And the morning walk down to the power station would get the blood circulating and reduce obesity.
And certainly give your sinuses a good working out if Hazlewood was the closest power station.
