and some interesting barks

how pretty are they, very interesting :)
Back from camping weekend Pepe ?
a couple of forest scenes and a big sequoia(sp?) in the middle.
and yes HP it was frigid in the forest.
…. and windy on the hilltop lookouts.

we stayed in a youth hostel – an old stone house – so it was warm with the fire going – and no actual tents thank goodness.
Hi Peps, welcome back, we missed you! Lovely trees and fascinating bark. Good pics

i’ve just returned from the wirraburra (pron. weir-rab-bra) forest and heres a few shots
If they keep chopping down trees like in that pile, there won’t be a forrest for much longer. Love the close of the bark.

- we walked a long way through these silent forest – a good way of escaping the hurley-burley.
there was a sunday market at wirraburra township this morning. all local produce sold by the friendly growers. i bought goats milk soap, organically certified pure lamb sausages, home grown peas and avocado.
beaut little market – pity the weather was so cold and windy.
Hey Pepe, glad your back in one piece:)
Damn cold here:D

and people either need to use recycled timbers or plantation pruducts for building and their furniture !!!

hi BG.
the part where we stayed is an old nursery (planted 1870’s) and they tried out just about every tree in the world to see how it grew. its odd that such an effort went on in such a remote place (2.5hrs drive north of adelaide) so early in our history
looks good pepe.

sorry – but i didn’t note down all the names of the trees -even though they were all tagged. i remember the cork tree, and that monterey pine is the same as pinus radiata, but the other names escape me.
