Okay, someone tried to explain but I didn’t ‘get it’. How do I put my photos in posts as little things that link through to the big pictures?

In photobucket I have four links under each photo. They are labelled:
Email & IM
Direct Link (this is the one I use, with the ! at either end)
HTML code
IMG code

instead of copying the link under the photo, you should have a check box you can tick. Tick the box for each photo you want to post, then scroll to the bottom of the page. There you will see a button called Create HTML and IMG codes, click on that and you will get 4 choices of code. The first one is suitable for this forum with thumbnails. You won’t need any exclamation marks, just click on the code and it will automatically copy, then past in here.

Sue – select the photo(s) by clicking on the little box at bottom left hand side of each.
Scroll to bottom of page.
click on “Generate HTML and IMG
Next page click on HTML clickable thumbnails _ 1st one.
(I hope)

This was my explanation – in Cackles in July thread – but as I didn’t get an acknowledgement I have no idea if it was read or not…

What coding are using to create links to your photos rather than showing full size pictures on the forum? I played with the generator, but can’t seem to work it out.

Sue – I don’t know if someone has already answered – am just popping back to where I left…I just select photo, scroll to bottom of Photobucket page, go generate code then click on the very top box of code. Bingo then paste here. :)

I think it might have been your explanation I tried to follow. You said to select the photo, so I clicked on it and opened it in a different window. I’ve never noticed the little tick box option before. I figured I was just missing something and meant to follow it up; but then got sidetracked. When I wanted to post photos again tonight I remembered that I hadn’t worked it out. Sorry I didn’t acknowledge your post – I did follow it. Just had a FART moment, that’s all.

AND now I have noticed the little tick box and now I know how to do it. Thanks to all for your input. Pity there’s not a search option for the forum; ‘cause I can almost guarantee this subject has come up before.

No worries, Sue. I had help from people here, and I didn’t get it right the first time either! Next time I try to help, I will try to remember to mention the tick box too! So, it has been a good exercise for more than you and probably a good idea that you made it a separate thread :)

I sometimes post Photobucket pics on another forum but to get the same result I have to use a different set of code.Like most computer stuff if you are not doing it regularly it is sometimes hard to remember what to do :)

This is probably old news to you all, but you never know. I just discovered ‘tagging’. I’ve seen it on the screen, but never bothered to investigate. I was looking for something else in Photobucket and saw an explanation.

In case you haven’t noticed it before: when you upload your photo, you can then tag it. Basically you draw a little square over a section and you label it. Then when someone looks at the photo and moves their mouse over it, the labels pop up and tell them what they’re lookin at.

I just tested it, and unfortunately, if you use the linked photos in the forum they don’t open up with the tags :(( BUT, if you go to someone’s album the tags will work when you click through the photos.

I’ve tagged my existing veg garden photos to show what I’ve planted where (bit sparse at the moment, but it’ll grow, it’ll grow ;))

Its not possible to take in everything all the time. You only remember what’s relevant to you at the time. Funny thing that too often something you remember being discussed, and remember not remembering, suddenly becomes relevant. I know on my quilting there’s often message prefaced with “I know we’ve discussed this, but I wasn’t listening …”

As long as you work it out when it means something to you, that’s all that matters. And for the rest of us its a good exercise in giving clear instructions.
