Re view – When I refresh the thread – my screen display always goes back to the view By Topic. Is there a way of setting the default to view By Time?

I am also having a bit of trouble navigating after viewing pics… Mainly since I changed to Mozilla Firefox from earlier versions of FF. If I open this forum in new tab, I can get a series of tabs – but they are presently only showing on my *Task Bar+ and not as tabs in the main window so I think I need to tweak some settings. What do people do after viewing a pic expanded from the thumbnail? To get back to the thread and view the next on photo. The Back button isn’t available at the expanded image – I think I need to be able to get back to the thumbnail – don’t want to lose what I have already typed but will try clicking on an image (straight after this post) and see if it goes back to the thumbnail as I have a vague recollection about that…

Cackles, I always open a link or click on a photo by opening it in a new window. If you right click on them you should get the menu options. You can then close that window after you’ve viewed it. Having said this, I have a Mac which might work differently to your computer.

Thanks O40 – I normally click to enlarge pics, rather than use right hand mouse menu.On other forum i just close the tab and am back to thumbnail OK. But I am having other hassles with Firefox 3 preventing automatic refreshing – and this morning the forum completely disappeared from my Bookmarks toolbar – as did GE last week. I will ask for tech assistance elsewhere too re this. Some of the browser Add ons that I am used to are incompatible with the latest FF version but I am assured at TechTalk that the newer version is superior despite that.

==================
I use FF3..

If you go Edit->Preferences->Tabs make sure the option “Make sure new pages should be opened in a new tab”.

On mine the next two options are selected too by default “Warn me when closing multiple tabs” and “Warn me when opening tabs might slow Firefox” but this obviously won’t change the behaviour you describe.

Thanks, Collie. This is Tools/options? I also have selected “when a new tab opened switch to it immediately.”

Not sure about anything under Edit as such…

Still can’t find out how to get around Firefox prevented this page from automatically reloading – this message pops up so at least I have an idea what is happening – but I would rather than the it did allow me to allow auto-reload – at least on some sites. Likewise, something along the lines of *Firefox prevented this page from ?re-directing? *- anyway again to do within navigating links within a page
