Bimbo is a TV star…..

I didn’t want to say anything in case it fell through for some reason.

Before the kids left on this epic trip…Bimbo emailed a TV show along the line of Oprah, Ricki Lake (hope not Jerry Springer) for some tickets. She told them she was visiting from Aust and so on and so forth.

We a couple of emails later the producer woke us up in the middle of the night via phone.

Yesterday Bimbo & Lou were on the show and going from her notes on the computer….. they loved her.

Oh I have a New York TV start living in my house (if she comes home…LOL)

The show is

Bimbo rang us this morning, just arrived in Orlando for 3 days of theme parks and Disneyland. She wanted to know why I didn’t answer my phone last night. Maybe it was cos’ the missed call showed at 1. 45 am and I was drugged up and asleep…..LOL

She was okay when I said why I missed her call.

Anyway she rang me cos’ she was standing in front of the Declaration of Independence and wanted to share that moment with me.

Said she’d love to take me to Washington for all the history.

Anyway here is a pic of the girlies in Time Square.

Update on the Bimbo…. she rang today from Denver airport on the way from Miami to Las Vegas.

The shuttle bus from the hotel to the Miami airport caught fire and burnt out. Kids are fine. Bimbo got lots of photos of the bus. 10 mins to when the plane was to leave, when they got to catch their plane.

Been told I can’t go to the airport on the 17th to pick her up.

She left with 2 suit cases and now has 4 suit cases……… no room for me when she’s picked up.

So many choices compared to say 20 years ago.

Well, funnily enough, precisely 20 years ago I was in the USA, working as a camp counsellor at Swannanoa 4-H camp near Asheville, North Carolina! I went to Disneyworld in Florida in about, um, September sometime in 1988.

I rang home about ten times in the year I was away, the rest of the time I sent lots of postcards and air letters. I remember ringing from a phone booth in Wiltshire, England, because a couple of blokes in the group I was out drinking with couldn’t believe that you could just pick up a phone and ring just like snaps fingers! that! So I scabbed as many pound coins off them as I could and rang Mum and got her to say hello to these unbelievers.

Every time I rang home or a letter or postcard arrived from me, Mum told all the customers at her little general store all about her travels – it’s just that your bragging network is a bit wider, hey Lucky!

She’s still got her day trip into Mexico and she’ll be home Sunday next week at 10.30 with last count 4 suitcases.

We have missed her heaps, though enjoyed the house to ourselves. Bathroom free when ever we want it, loo paper not being eating, clean sink in the morning.

When she gets home, that’ll be the best birfty present ever……. though #1 son moving out last year on my birfty was pretty darn special too.

Guess he’s still alive, haven’t heard from him since the shower plumbing was fixed…….LOL just before the 17 of last month.

Hope you have enjoyed the photos of her trip, I am just so proud of her getting up and making one of her dreams come true. And I wanted to share it with my “family”

  1. daughter and son-in-law have bought tickets to go to Japan next year. I am so jealous as I have never been outside Australia myself. However my second cousin who is the same age as #1 daughter and who lived with us for a time is getting married in Belgium next August and we are planning to go over for the wedding, so that will be my first international trip and we will no doubt visit other parts of Europe as well. :D

Good on you BG. Make sure you do it now! There comes a time when you need to do something for yourself and have a rest from doing what life demands that you do.

(I just found a few more missing posts. Again.)

I friend of ours flew out today bound for Tahiti. From there he’s taking a seaplane out to some little atol to be picked up by another friend, who’s sailing back to Aus from Florida.
They’re then sailing to Bora Bora and then to Papeete.

Sounds hard to take.

No, he’s a lovely bloke but be has a habit of meeting women OS and bringing them home. Eventually reality sets in and they leave, holiday romances are tricky. LOL

He’s done his dash now though because there’s a limit on the number of overseas wives he’s legally able to bring to Aus.

nope and nope – salt water encrusted hair, brown skin, ozone air are all great, you can stick your muddy rivers with their currents and other sides too far away – give me the beach anyday.

If the beach has a big cliff over looking it – I love it. Great place to sit and contemplate just how small I am in the grand scope of life. As for swimming in anything – I want four walls. Think it comes from growing up in the top end where the beach had stingers and the rest had teeth.

No No Pepe! Try a running creek, shaded, stony bottom, gurgling as the water passes by. Wading through, crystal clear to your knees. Bushy aroma of the plant life. A picnic on the bank. Oh man. Give me that any day. Pllleeeese.

what ! – you mean those little things ya pass over on a bush walk? ya can’t swim in them. nice enough for a drink maybe,
what about the sound of rolling surf, the flight of seagulls overhead and the little rockpools washed by the incoming tide, full of tiny crabs and other delights.

well the one I’m thinking about you would be over your head if you tried to walk across it! lol! Great swimming pools – can’t swim in surf! frogs and bush birds calling – no squawky seagulls. Water falls or rapids for variety. dappled shade instead of full bore burning sun. No crowds, just you and nature.

And all the different colours in the sea and the sky, and the sunlight bouncing off the water, and the seabirds calling, and the peaceful feel of an empty beach, and the smell of seaweed, and the cool breeze off the sea on a hot night -oh I could go on and on – oh I just did.

It’s not the cancer, it’s just that he seems stuck in Dirty Dancing as well and it’s not a good look at his age.

Have you SEEN Patrick Swayze latetly?

My brain has frozen him from “Dirty Dancing”, but I guess he doesn’t look so good what with the cancer and all :(

Patrick Swayze got down to a very unflattering piece of underwear that seemed to be held together with string in that movie! He looked like a plastic surgeon and a tanning salon had done their worst to him, poor lad. He’s older than my husband, but of course Mr Y is much better looking – no wrinkles :) and no scary undies!

My fav Swayze role was in MASH. Actually, it’s my fav Father Mulcahy epsiode. Sadly ironical that swayze has lukemia in the episode.
