Make sure you sample the Black Label Cheddar. A little more subtle than the smoked, but scrum-diddly-umptious.
King Island do some ridiculously tasty cheeses. I might get a tiny one later this week and serve with some fresh sliced tomatoes from the garden.
Dark Orange was waxing lyrical about the quality of King Island cheeses when I met him recently.
Saturday arvo
…cracked peppered crackers and smoked cheddar and a thin slice of fresh lebanese cucumber
oh and, porch is cleaned and now there’s a steady warm rain

I have no idea

I did wonder the same thing.
I am rather fond of Dutch smoked cheese is the flavour similar
I’ve no luck with any delivery advice, but I did find a description of Stokes Point’s flavour…
Stokes Point Smoked Cheddar
King Island Dairy Stokes Point Smoked Cheddar is naturally smoked with Tasmanian hardwood. Matured for nine months, the golden rind created during smoking acts as a natural preservative. Stokes Point Smoked Cheddar is named after the most southern tip of the island and its closest point to northwestern Tasmania

Hi Ratty… haven’t seen you in ages.
I’m a fan of smoked cheese but this one beats any of them imo.. But of course I am biased :)
I doubt the King Island Dairy delivers we had to resort to bringing back only 6ks of various cheeses this trip. You will find KI cheese in most supermarkets and all good delis I imagine but it will be pricey, worth it though.
Neddles and I indulge in King Island Dairy product once a year at the Royal Adelaide Show – no doubt they have a presence at each state’s equivalent.

They also had a stall at the Currie show on King Island. :)
Wandered out for some groceries, to discover my local Coles stocks King Island Stokes Point smoked cheddar.
I picked it up, looked at it, checked price, put it back on the shelf and walked on.
….came back and put one in my basket.

King Island Dairy, 100% owned by Lion Pty Ltd, gains a light cross due to their challenging of the CDS. So if that bothers you, ditch KI.
What’s a light cross?
…
What’s a CDS?
That site apparently sees alcohol as “unethical” so I think they can be safely dismissed as cranks :)
A light cross is not as bad as a dark cross; it means there are “fewer criticisms” than a black mark. The CDS is NT’s Container Deposit Scheme which Coca Cola et al got upset over.

A Jedi crucifix.
OK, thanks. Didn’t realise you could return cheese containers for deposit…
They’re not, but Lion Pty Ltd own a bunch of other brands that do have recyclable containers e.g. various juice companies.

Well I’ve not looked at the site; but it has become apparent, with the information that Bubble’s has kindly provided, that I’ll never need to bother.

How reliable is this website’s ‘company ownership’ stats?

They have a bunch of references. I guess the ethics are subjective though; if you don’t care about the CDS then there’s nothing to worry about. Having said that, brands owned by “bad guy” companies get a cross e.g. L’Oreal owns The Body Shop. The Body Shop don’t do any animal testing but L’Oreal does, therefore Body Shop gets a cross because of its parent company.
what’s CDS?

Yes.
I won’t be buying some every fortnight at that price
So if you are impressed with the Smoked Cheddar then you will be very impressed with this….

We reckon we have struck gold here :D

Umm……………. cheddar cheese has been popular for some time now.
It’s not your plain-brick supermarket cheddar, by a long chalk.
Black label…..so it’s a bit, er, naughty?
how can it be called cheddar?

Yes, very fattening.
